I'll be honest, I like to consider myself pretty knowledgeable about rules, but once ball 4 is awarded, the play is dead. Nothing is live.

This whole coming off the bag thing is new to me. I mean, couldn't they just tag him between basepaths?

I'm completely ignorant here. WTF.

They are saying that once his hand hit the bag, then that was basically the end of the walk. Once he came off the bag, it was literally like stepping away from the bag and then he got tagged.

Not saying I agree with that. I'm saying that is how I think the Umps interpreted it.

Most baseball fans have never seen a play like that. Ball 4 usually kills ball. When he first slid in safe, dead ball was complete. Came off base (allegedly) and ball was live again. Legit call and bullshite at same time.

Prom Your last sentence is accurate. Two separate plays, awarded second, touched bag.next play ,came off bag tagged out.

It's not a dead ball. That's why you're supposed to hustle to first. No rule against advancing past a base on a walk

Unless time is called, the ball is always live.

Yes, there is no play on a runner when he jogs to 2nd base. You can't tag someone out even for over-running the base on an awarded walk.

If that were the case, then a runner on first who is breaking for second on the pitch and ball 4 gets passed the catcher, that runner would have to halt at 2nd and not be allowed to easily advance to 3rd.

Doesn't work that way

False. When a batter walks, and the catcher throws down to 1st, that batter better turn out or stay on the bag. If he hits first and turns in, the first baseman can tag him and he's out. Happens all the time in high school ball...but usually by college batters know better.

No.. Ball is dead on a hit by pitch.

Hopefully your knowledge of Nkemdich is as bad as the walk rule
