He was less than impressive in high school and his college stats don't show me much. I bet his family connections came into play.

I don't think he's likely to make a big impact on the staff next year. I'd expect Hunter Newman and Mitch Sewald to be the big additions.

Newman:
P/3B HUNTER NEWMAN, SR., CALVARY DAY

THE LSU-bound right-hander went 6-2 with a 1.52 ERA, striking out 114 batters in 73 2/3 innings. He hit .500 with 25 runs, 30 RBIs and a .560 on-base percentage.

Sewald:
5-1 with an 0.98 ERA, with 88 strikeouts in 64 innings.
