Fished Friday morning in the surf near Artie's.....17 trout on topwater (would have had more but massive bird's nest in my calcutta shut me down for about 15 mins) and 6 flounder jigging by the rocks. Topwater bite was done by 8am. Caught the the trout casting in the surf from ankle to knee deep water. Saw a few boats anchored on the gulf side of the rocks pitching live bait (croakers or minnows in not sure) on carolina rigs that were hooked up on nearly every cast. If you surf fish, watch out for sharks. Ive fished the surf on GI for decades and these were the first I've seen up close. Thankfully, the surf was full of bait and they weren't too interested in my leg.

:omg:
No offense brah but there's been tons of sharks in the surf around GI for years. When the fish weren't biting in the summer we'd bring a big rod out to the surf with some cut bait and catch sharks. You can catch those 3-4 footers all day long. I always loved watching the reactions of people who were swimming nearby who would be in disbelief that there were sharks out there with them.
