SG, what are your thoughts on the AMD 8 core. I know you're an Intel guy but be unbiased and give me an answer on what you have heard about them.
I am in the very early stages of planning my PC and just looking around for a few months before I spend the money.
Want a monster but not spending $2600 like you did.

Check out this CPU chart from Tom's hardware.
The best AMD's are not even in the same Tier with the Intel Core i3's

I admit I overspent on the PSU and the case fans for sure because I was going for as quiet as possible, and the PSU I bought should last for a good 6 or 7 years at least.
You could argue that I overspent on the RAM by going 16GB to.
The SSD was $300. The SSD are nice for load times, but do nothing for your frame rates, so that can easily be done with out.
Booting up Windows 7 in under 15 seconds sure is nice though
