as a Grizzlies fan, no Oj Mayo is not equal to Marcus Thornton. OJ is unbelievable when he's on, but he's wildly inconsistent; however, he's been much better the last half of the season. Marcus has a .438 FG%. OJ has a .406 FG%. They have about the same 3 pt %. Marcus is also much better at the free throw line. They're both so-so on defense, which is why Tony Allen starts over OJ even with his lackluster offense.

Go Griz! OJ is not, but Tony Allen is a better all-around SG than Thorton IMO. Best perimeter defender in the NBA. But OJ may be a more valuable player overall, in that he also plays 10+ minutes at PG every night, which Thorton doesn't (and probably can't) do.
