Brandon Larson 1997: 110 for 289 in 69 games - record for hits
Raph Rhymes 2012: 74 for 147 in 39 games
Russ Johnson 1994: .410 (96 for 234 in 66 games - record for avg)
LSU should have AT LEAST 22 games remaining in the season. 13 regular season games + 3 SEC tournament games + 3 regional games + 3 super regional games.
Using a projected 3.75 at bats/game he should have around 82 at bats left (more if the Tigers advance to the World Series).
He needs 37 hits to eclipse the Larson season record of 110. 37 for 82 or an average of .451 for the remainder of the season gets him there.
So getting that record is still going to take a hell of an effort, no injuries or missed games and a little luck but it is now within reach, especially if the Tigers end up in Omaha.

Raph Rhymes 2012: .503 in 39 games
There are 13 regular season games left, plus the SEC and NCAA tournament games.
8 for 12 against Kentucky
3 for 4 so far against UGA
This cat is batting .531 in SEC play

Good stuff, it is likely he breaks the avg record at this point, and with each week it seems likely he gets to 100 hits
