totally agree, that was a major project in 2005 to tear down and rebuild the relatively new (1978) West upper deck to match the East upper deck (built 2000). If the plan was to not fully enclose the South end zone, then the East upper should have just been built to match the original West upper (1978).

The purpose of rebuilding the West upper had little to do with matching the east. Do you really think they would spend all of that money just so the decks looked alike? The purpose of redoing the West was to redo the antiquate press box and add the Stadium Club, which brings in a ton of revenue. It was designed and built to match the East because it made sense, just in case you potentially wanted to tie them together. Nowhere ever has TAF or LSU said they would fully connect the horseshoe. People have only made that assumption.

BTW, everyone here is freaking out over some photoshop mock ups made by somebody on Tigerdroppings. Why don't you all wait and see what the actual design looks like.

I totally see your point on the press box, plus the Stadium Club and associated revenue. Architecturally and aesthetically not continuing the upper deck "wrapping" at the southern ends would likely make for a choppy look. Especially since the UDs do no not "wrap" at the northern ends.

Also, does anyone here have a good idea of the total on the season ticket waiting list?

For lesser OOC opponents sell EZ Upper Deck on the cheap (like $50) to regular folks who can't afford to attend any games in TS now. For better OOC and SEC games bump the price and sell to visitors.
