Heading here for our anniversary this weekend.. got any recommendations?
Also will take any tips for bars/restaurants around to grab drinks before and after?
TIA!
ETA: Review
So first things first, we loved it. We both agreed it was one of the best dinners we've had in a long time. We got there about 10-15 minutes before our reservation time expecting to sit around and have a drink while waiting but we were immediately shown to our table. We were tucked away in the corner by the street window, which was entertaining to quickly grab a sentence or two from drunk pedestrians. It was quite loud in the restaurant but it seemed as if everyone around was just drunk and having a great time. We decided to drink up and get as loud as they were. The table behind us knocked over a couple of glasses of wine shortly after.
The bread assortment plate.. whatever that cornbread muffin was, oh man oh man was it good. We started out with the Chocon de Lait with a sweet potato puree and fried onions. It was melt in your mouth amazing. I had the veal sweetbreads with lemon caper butter. Again, the food just melts in your mouth. Green beans weren't very good but I enjoyed the potato wedges very much, it also came with a sweet potato mash, and I'm a sucker for sweet potatoes. My boyfriend ordered the B-line Snapper with black eyed peas, I only had one bite but it was very good, I just couldn't wait to get back to the veal.
Service was okay. Our waiter was very knowledgeable, nothing to write home about. He did pair the veal with a great wine for me though. We also had the pear/chamomile sorbet, very light and the perfect ending to a flavorful, filling meal. We were full but not overly stuffed.
Thanks again for your recs, we thoroughly enjoyed our night in New Orleans.

Just ate there for the first time this past Wednesday, and just haven't gotten around to posting a review. Really extensive wine list and a knowledgeable server helped pick a really nice bottle of Burgundy. Sweetbread appetizer (get the traditional lemon seasoning option) was stellar. Scallops also good. Had a tough time choosing between the hanger steak and the duck, wish I had gotten the duck. Hanger steak was cooked perfectly, but a lot tougher than the one I've had several times at Rio Mar, and not nearly as flavorful.
One of the better values of the higher end restaurants, with excellent, friendly service, but didn't think the food quite matched Mr. Johns, Clancys or Dante's Kitchen's recent trips.

I think the sherry mustard sauce on the sweetbreads is the way to go. I got them for an app, then again for dessert the last time I went.
The cream of garlic soup, scallops, and lamb are all good choices as weel.
The French 75 is a great bar around there.

Idk, our server said both sauces were good, but the lemon seemed to let the natural flavor come through. I could totally see ordering them for dessert, I almost ordered some to go.

I like them both ways, but just prefer the sherry mustard. I don't think one could go wrong either way.

Wife and I would go to the in the Prince Conti Hotel around the corner from Bayonna on Conti St., great, stiff, well made cocktails. After dinner, a nice 3 block walk to the Carousel Bar in the Monteleone Hotel on Royal St. Enjoy!!

Bombay Club is a good one. Cheryl Charming is the manager and works behind the bar on Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Go three blocks down Dauphine to Canal and go in the Ritz and listen to Jeremy Davenport while sipping on a good cocktail or two. That will definitely set the mood for later.

Goat Cheese Crouton is a great app.
