What is the story with this pitcher from Zachary starting at Alabama as a freshman this year? He is off to a hot start. Did LSU not recruit or offer him?

If he's at Alabama, then LSU didn't need/want/recruit him.

The kid is going to be a stud no doubt, but don't read too much into him being our opening day starter, we have literally zero pitching back from last season.

And that may have helped Gaspard pull him in. May have not been heavily recruited by LSU and a chance to come in and start for Bama. Not sure how much interest we had...

There is a rumor that LSU is upset that Von Rosenburg, also from Zachary, first committed to LSU but then went pro. The coaching/recruiting staff at LSU blamed the Zachary coaching staff for letting him get away. So LSU may be boycotting Zachary players. Guilbeaux was the first to be ignored so Bama jumped at the opportunity to pick him up. He's going to be a serious stud as a pitcher.
