Drew way out played his initial 60 mil contract and could of easily asked for a new contract after he won the super bowl. But he didn't and let the team address other key free agents these past few years.

He has done his part and now it's time to pay the man what he wants and deserves.

Oh, I don't disagree with that at all. And, more importantly, he's deserved it.

However, it comes at a cost - and that contract (if it gets done) probably should NOT be celebrated as much as it will down here in NOLA. Why? Because it could very well destroy the team, especially the O line and make them take steps backwards over the next few years.

I agree and he's not asking for $5 mil over what anyone else has gotten.

He's asking for the Peyton Manning deal according to piece out now on ESPN.

They have Brees wanting $23 mil front loaded for the first 3 years of the deal with an average of $18 or $19 mil per for the lifetime of the deal. That's basically Manning's deal with a little change thrown in to make him the highest paid.

ESPN says the Saints have offered Brady's deal which is $18 mil per. I can see where Brees wants the Manning deal and should get it.
