Baylor has already taken Chris Johnson as their qb in the class. 6'5 200 athletic qb with a better arm than Barrett but raw as a passer.

Texas' appeal is the new coaches(this is their 2nd year),they're a power program with a very attractive history and campus and they are on the upswing. They're a solid QB away from being a MNC contender. They have a SEC type defense that will be scary good this coming season. Also have multitudes of young, talented weapons on offense. They just don't have a QB that has proven to be anything but below average to this point.

C,ertainly seems that some Texas people know more about Wilson and his lack of LSU offer than the LSU people do or are saying. It's puzzling to us but some Texas people seem to know what's going on.

Good to see Bivin is still planning to visit and I hope we blow him away. ND is going to be a major obstacle and with OSU's options at OT dwindling, I'd expect them to be a major factor.

I'm not concerned about Smith. He loves LSU and just wants to see us use the TE more in the passing game. If we don't attempt to use the TE more this season then I wouldn't blame Smith at all for going elsewhere. His future is based on his receiving ability so a blocking based scheme for the TE doesn't do him any favors. He'll never be considered a great blocker. If we don't look to use the TE in the passing game then I'm not too concerned about recruiting TEs. Just put an extra OL out there and let him block. Go 4 or 5 wide to make up in the passing game.

Claiborne likely would've commited to TAM without a personal and important call from LSU last week. I fully expect his offer to be handed out soon from LSU. Also think he is waiting for the LSU offer but don't think he'll wait past the 1st camp.

Some are saying Prevot is a lock to be offered by Texas this weekend and if so I agree with GW. Some say Texas may like Daeshon Hall more(think we should at least test the waters with him. 6'6 220 athlete and basketball player) but he's from Washington state and really likes Washington who has offered. Texas may hedge their bets and take Prevot. Either way I'm not counting too much on Prevot being in our class. He's exploding. Never thought he could commit at this point anyway with Williams and Beckwith still on the board.

Wiat until Manning visits LSU before making any judgements on him. I'm not buying the Hines stuff at this point. Manning can go anywhere he wants. Hines is going to have limited choices.

I certainly think Texas is going to try to get Barrett as well but don't think they will.Swoopes was the clear 1st choice and no way he wants to play 2nd fiddle to Harsin's prodigy. I like our chances but not completely sold yet. Also a little disappointed in our overall scale of QB recruiting but I will say that contrary to the slew of commits and offers out, it is still insanely early in the cycle.

Kincade would be ours right now if Les called and offered him. He is going on the fact that we want him to camp. Others may not require him to.

We made great progress with Brown last summer and I've heard we are his school of choice but Akina and Texas are a major threat. Akina has a great track record and is a much better recruiter than Cooper. Our best case scenario would be for Akina to move on as he did last winter only to come back after about a month. He wants to be a DC/HC and if the right opportunity comes along he would bolt. Regardless if we stay on Brown hard I'd expect us to be right in the thick of things with him.

Another thing that helps with Brown is new receivers coach Adam Henry is from there, so I would assume he would come into play with him too
