some of those teams copy famous Euro team is really, really stupid.

ReaL Salt Lake? Chivas USA

I've always hated that...when MLS started, they were hell bent on just copying everything they saw overseas down to a tee...and it just comes off as some bushleague. What the hell is royal about Salt Lake City???? And maybe two guys in that state speak Spanish!

Soccer might not have been that popular but America has played it longer than 15 years. Why couldn't they just have an American league - that does things the way we do things in other sports...but top to bottom..."we have to call it a pitch now."

man, its actually the complete opposite!

When MLS started, they basically said frick off to all soccer traditions throughout the world and tried to make it Americanized. They got rid of pk's and instead had penalty shootouts similar to hockey. Instead of the fall to spring regular season, they put it from spring into summer ending in the fall.

And as for the names, they were definitely not similar to european names. That trend has only happened in the last decade. Dallas FC was originally the Dallas Burn. Sporting Kansas City started off as the Kansas City Wizards. Real Salt Lake only came into MLS about 5 or 6 years ago, they weren't one of the original teams. Original team names consisted of LA Galaxy, Chicago Burn, San Jose Earthquakes. None of which are close to European soccer team names.
