It has nothing to do with PC, it has to do with the fact it is illogical and stupid. The mascot references the Boston Tea Party. the team moved from Boston and kept the localized nickname. It's in the same category as the Hornets, Lakers, and Jazz on the list of awful nicknames: it is a local reference to someplace else.
Those are the worst nicknames because:
A) they are lazy
B) they advertise that the team moved
C) they ae the total opposite of a good mascot -one that makes a local reference
If you move a team and keep the mascot, you deserve to rot in hell for crimes against sports.
