Louisiana and White QB's

This is not an attempt to flame the board, but I had a serious discussion with a coworker about white QB's coming out of high school in Louisiana. He is from Cali, and while he mentioned the Manning boys thats all he could mention. Why do you think Louisiana hasn't had an elite white QB come out of high school in quite some time?

Race doesn't matter... The state of LA has not produced any elite QB's since Elite Manning period.

Seriously, we were comparing the two QB's in the superbowl. One is from what seems like the QB capital of the world and the other from Louisiana. His opinion was that it boiled down to intelligence and economics. I couldn't agree with the intelligence part but, I could see how economics would be a factor.

Maybe they are not playing QB in HS , ?? After all a QB has to have fast feet , I know we have been told that is all they need . But we were told wrong Example the BCS Title game 2012 . Where there was no pass rush just a strong running defense

Any theory on why this so?

I think a lot of the would-be QB's are third basemen and starting pitchers.
Also, Louisiana high schools seem to run more spread-option and similar type run-based offenses, rather than the spread-shoot and pro-style offenses you see a lot of in Texas and California. Whether that is cause or effect I don't know, probably a combination of both.

Were Brock Berlin, Craig Nall and the Booty's not elite?

Considering there are only about 10 active quarterbacks alive as good as Manning, this is not surprising. We currently have a QB on LSU's roster from Barbe...that's in Louisiana...and I thinks he's white. FWIW
