I love the optomism in this thread and like his coaching pedigree but from a recruiting aspect, on the surface and 1st impression, it's kind of lukewarm. We don't know if he can recruit and he certainly never has at the SEC level. Maybe he just has the kind of personality that will make him a recruiting machine but nothing in his past history indicates that he can recruit at a high level. Contacts and knowing people in Texas and LA does not make for a good recruiter. Ensminger has those and look how he does. Kragthorpe has ties to Texas as well and that didn't exactly pay huge dividends. I'll give him a chance before saying for sure but 1st impression leaves me a little unsatisfied. Hopefully more change is on the way to help with recruiting.

He has recruited the areas before, by all accounts has a great personality, can sell his NFL experience, and is a young black WR himself so he can absolutely relate to most of these players.

Well, with three coaches with ties in Texas, LSU has NO excuse but to raid Texas this coming season.

I definitely see what your saying and I mentioned it previously. He hasn't recruited in a long time.
What I know about him...
He recruited some pretty dang good receivers and coached them up at McNeese. McNeese always knew he was moving up. He was pegged as a fast riser early. Players love him. His personality is taylor made for recruiting. That's why I said I think he can be a national type guy. He doesn't need to rely on his connections to get him in the door. I still have some reservations as far him being out of the game for a while but I don't think it will take him long to get up to speed. I think he ends up being a big, pleasant surprise.
