I've always hated the option as it was run at LSU! IMO it was used to replace our mediocre qb's passing unability! It doesn't work in the NFL and it doesn't work against a very good defense. What it does all to often is kill drives after our players get tackled for huge losses!!! Thank God JJ and the oc are finally gone.
I've been screaming about this sinse les miles introduced it. LSU isn't army navy or Georgia southern, we r a pro style school

It's ok to run the option every now and then IMO but the defense has to respect the passing game!

You just have to love these well thought out and well articulated posts don't you? I'm impressed at how much they are teaching in the 4th grade these days.

depends on the QB. sometimes it's used to supplement a good QB's passing and take advantage of his athleticism. see Mauck/ Flynn/ Ryan11. it can be a nice wrinkle.

Obviously, as you and I both know, Crowton was not with us this season and there has been no change at the OC.

Please excuse me saying the OC was leaving, I misread a post saying the wr coach Billy Gonzales was taking the oc position at Illinois! Guess he got tires of teaching Russell Sheppard how to block? To all the grammar ninnies concerning my unability/ inability to accurately explain a mediocre qb's failed attempt at staying in the pocket long enough for a route longer than 5yds to open up before running and the coninued use of the crouton/miles option to subsidize this weakness, I'm sure div. 2 Georgia southern and their high powered option could use a fee more English teachers! It's called a PRO style offense for a reason!!! I still stand bythe facts of my previous post!
