You are right, this why preparation helps out.

Let revisit the QB situation/recruitement under Miles

2005, we have 2, RS Soph QB's. He lands the #1 player in state a 5* QB, RS him the next year, so far so good. No QB in 2006 class this is a mistake. Anyone with a brain can figure out that 1 out of JR or Flynn will be gone after the 06 season (either one goes pro or transfers), they sign Lee in 2007. That leaves you with a Sr, RS Soph and a true frosh as you QB's. 08 again only 1 QB, JJ. Even if RP pans out, you are an injury, or bad grades or someone not panning out away from having no depth. 09 you get 2 QB's one you convert to WR and don't use and a guy that you kick off the team a year later. So in 2010, you have 2 Jr QB and NO ONE behind them, with that in mind, you recruit ONE QB that is a projected 1st round MLB pick.

So JJ/JL is what happens when you have no depth, that's caused by having no forward looking plan. The brightside is, it seems like they've learned the lesson moving forward, we should have depth the next couple of years with Mett, Rivers, Kiel and Randall.

True, although I still can't believe Mett couldnt have done a better job. QBs come in for other teams and do well their first year, and Mett had a year at UGA and a year at JUCO so he wasnt right out of high school.
