There are, of course, more alternatives. Miles intended to play Lee; however, given the game situation and the Bama pass rush, he changed his mind because he thought that Jefferson would give LSU the better chance to win.
There's no way that's a possibility. It would have been difficult for the starter to have failed worse than he did.
Try to remember November 5th. The starter of that game failed worse than Jefferson did.

That was the alternative for Miles.

If the objective of football game is to score more points than the opponent then how could anyone fail any worse than zero points?

Are you saying it is possible that any of the other 84 players on the active roster could have scored any less points than JJ?

Please explain.

Complete and utter horse hockey

Lee was 2 for 2 and had already picked up a 1st down, when Miles trotted JJ out there on the 5th play of the game. Fact

I imagine seeing JJ run out on the 5th play had no affect on Lee. When did we see Lee run out on Monday. Why? Miles wanted to be fair. He needed to have been fair since the Ky game, BECAUSE JJ WASN'T OBVIOUSLY THE ONLY WAY WE WOULD WIN THE BCS. lol
