People in nola can tell you that 2011 Miles = 2002 Jim Haslett. Miles has an irrational love for JJ just like Haslett loved him some Aaron Brooks. Neither could throw a forward pass. And both coaches would rather lose out than try their backups, Lee and Jake Delomme.

We thought that Miles was a very good coach, but, last night changed that for me. At this point, I have not decided, but, I'm leaning towards this: there are better coaches than Miles in many places that play college football. Miles is a lucky man.
How can you argue with LOGIC like this?
The Man has excelled in the toughest conference in college football for 7 Years, won a National Championship and finished the season ranked in the top 5 for 4 of those 7 years....because he's LUCKY!
NEWFLASH!
Michael Jordan was a LUCKY basketball player.
Drew Brees is a LUCKY quarterback.
and Secretariat was a LUCKY horse.

Thirteen--I'm assuming your question is honest. We're still a little raw after last night.
But, yes, Les Miles is a damn good football coach. Look what happened to you guys in the 90s after Stallings left. That hasn't happened here after Saban left, so Miles must have something to do with it. Btw, last two seasons: Miles 24-3, Saban 21-4.

You guys kill me. Who would you replace him with?
There are not many coaches who can win 11 games a year in the SEC west. We are starting to sound like Georgia with Richt. Another 10 wins/year coach. Except he LOSES SEC championships and has never made a BCSNC game.
Miles on the hot seat!! Story at eleven!!

He is a very good recruiter. His talent will win him a ton of games. As far as a coach he is only as good as his coordinators. This has been proven with Malveto and Crowton.

He needs to take a public speaking course. I understand not divulging what people on the outside don't need to know.
But it drives me absolutely insane when he says something like "They are a very quality team."
There are more "Les-isms" but the word quality sticks in my craw.
Coaching wise, I don't know. After last night ...

didnt he only get a chance to really throw after he had cut his finger and had it bandaged in that game?

He is a very good coach. Even good coaches eff it up occasionally and flop in big games. IMO Les was a stud QB away from capping off the greatest season in LSU history. Hopefully Mett will fill the void.

There is a difference in flopping and what Les did last night. I don't think he's a horrible coach, but he's not even top 20 right now to me. He's a decent recruiter that has continued to lose top players from Louisiana despite a built in advantage, and while he brings in talent, most of them, especially at WR have started to waste away.
Les is what he is. A mediocre coach/good recruiter that lucked into Tennessee letting Chavis go and LSU forcing his hand with Pelini over Clay.
This is the best LSU will get with him and I seriously see him never winning an NC again, because he's not going to luck up again like he did in 2007. Last night was the worst coaching performance I've ever seen in my life.

Les has to be a damn good coach because Les doesn't have a losing record against ANY SEC team... (1 neutral record Georgia (2-2)
Great Season, LSU forever

Didn't he beat Saban in Tuscaloosa in the game of century? Good try.

Everyone make sure that Geaux2002 and other people with no faith do not vulture BCSNCG tickets next year when LSU gets #4

Imagine petrino with this defense and skill players on offense
Go ahead and allow yourself to indulge. Let me say our recruiting the last 4-5 years is about 5th
Arkie? 25 - 30
Chew on that
Yeah. Still mad

Good coach, soon to be unanimous great coach. I already see him as a great coach actually. Look at not only what he's done for his self, his staff, and his players...but look at what all he has done knowing the things this fan base says about him. Many would've quit already. Not him. He's one of the few that will be remembered as both a true coach and a truly great guy.
??? I missed the flyer saying only schools from a player's home state can recruit them. Anyone worth a second look already brings us more competition than any one in-state rival would.
Why do people think a FG is so much safer than a regular offensive play? Sure, chip shot and the game is over. But FGs are never definite. See Bama 11/5 and on the extra point last night. Besides, he did ultimately decide on a FG...what do you want?

He's a coach with an overinflated record because he took over a monster of a program and has benefited from having no natural in state rival to take away recruits from a talent rich state.

Then in overtime, all they need is to kick a field goal to win. And what do they do? They call an option play and have the qb take a chance of fumbling. The play worked, but it was an awful call. Even Gary Danielson brought this up when it happened. You don't call a play with that high of a chance for something to go wrong when you are already well in range of the game winning field goal.

Arkansas fans aren't sold on Petrino, He'll probably get canned in the next few years

So many band wagon fans coming out the woodworks. Unbelievable. You were all saying he was the greatest coach ever two day ago. You fans suck. LSU will be back for revenge. Les is very sincere about our program and takes this loss to heart. Sure this loss sucks and was a poor execution of game planning and poor QB play, but Les will learn from it. Just like he did his clock management issues. This game will make him a better coach.

I am convinced he is only as good as those he hires to make the game day decisions. I think he is too involved in those right now.
