I grew up on Randazzo's king cakes and I enjoy Sucre's (albeit they're kind of pricey for what you get). Grocery store king cakes are crappy for the most part and since I've been at LSU I 
at the 'king cake' options in B.R. (aka a hunk of bread with sugar on top). Although I've had Ambrosia's before and it was decent.
FWIW I don't like Gambino's and the traditional McKenzie's/now Tastee's king cakes. I'm just not a fan of a hunk of french bread with sugar on top and Gambino's are just not good; very goopy, stale mess.
