according to Saturday down south. God I hope they are wrong. However if LSU wins the Crystal it would not surprise me in the least

Anytime a college team wins the ship, there is always several key players that declare, and it should be that way. Their stock will never be higher, and they should cash in their chips, they deserve the frick out of it.

They're sophomores, no?

Montgomery has been tweeting like he's going

quote:
90 Michael Brockers DT 6-6 306 So. 1L Houston, Texas (Chavez HS)
quote:
99 Sam Montgomery DE 6-4 245 So. 1L Greenwood, S.C. (Greenwood HS)

Am I missing something?

If you want to see a positive:
Brockers, Montgomery and Claiborne will play their tails off if they are going to the draft. Ending on a good note is a must.
-small note: I think these guys play their tails off for Miles, anyway. But the draft is added incentive.

Could Brockers having to compete with ego have something to do with his decision to go early?

i can see sam going especially if he has another big performance. i think if randle comes back he will be a first rounder next yr. brock should probably come back unless he looks like pre chop block dorsey in the title game. i don't think we'll see as many underclassmen declare as say what happened to florida in 06, mo is the only shoo in right now IMHO.

Moscona was talking about the possibility yesterday- but this is merely speculation at this time....

If either projects in the 1st they're gone. All depends on what that NFL advisory staff tells them. I imagine Sam will grade pretty high but Brockers is more NFL ready imo. All depends on how we do on the 9th too I'd imagine.

Currently Sam is listed as the number 1 DE on many draft boards, even as a RS Soph. He would crush the combine, but I think he needs another year. The pro's play a different game.
Brockers could also get in the 1st round. I bet he would have one of the fastest, if not fastest 40 times out of all the defensive tackles. He's rated as a top defensive linemen, not for this years draft, but a great combine could propel him higher in the draft. Brockers could compete in the pro's right now, several years from now he'll be a pro-bowler. Many teams will consider him because he can play in a 4-3 or 3-4, without any drop off. I think he's ready now and he wouldn't go later than the second round, but next year he would be definite 1st round pick. IMO he would be a top10, maybe top5 pick in the 2013 draft

No point in redshirting because if your good enough you lose one year of field time

Are either one even projected to go in the first 2 rounds?
The "2012 team is going to be better" talk is going to take a good hit if we lose our 2 best dlinemen.

For that matter...Loston, Mingo, Williford, Logan and Minter could all leave if they wanted to.

Depends on whether it's first round $$. The new CBA has much tighter limits for signing bonus and rookie contract.
They should ask for an evaluation and, if the prospects fr good $ are there, they should go.
