Any body own or ever hunt with a Harrington & Richardson 12 gauge? Looking for a new shotgun, and these are fairly cheap.

yep,, about 48 years ago...

sounds harsh... let me edit..

you put a shell or shells in there, pull the trigger and it would shoot.. if you're new in hunting, or not sure you're gonna stay in it, fine, get an H&R... Personally, i would buy a good used Remmy, or something..

LINK

Wikipedia says the pump is from China and the Auto(discontinued) was from Turkey.

Not bashing that in particular... just important to know that they are not made in the same factory as the single shot's that H&R are really known for.

I've hunted plenty with the H&R single shots though. Fine guns, and you can reload them a lot faster than you think, once you get the hang of it.

Never thought of a single shot. Will definitely look into it. Thanks

That was the first gun I bought with my own money. I was 13 and I gave 65$ for it. I killed a lot of shite with that gun including several deer. The nut that held the forearm broke off and the firing pin broke.

I bought a used Remington 870 Express a couple months ago at a pawn shop for $150. I would stay away from the pump and semi-auto H&Rs. I also saw a single shot 20ga H&R at the same pawn shop for $125. So look around, and keep an eye in the LA Sportsmans classifieds. You can probably get a used quality pump for what you would pay for a new crappy pump.
