The way it works:
Each school has an alottment of reserves for the national title game. Think stock options. At some point in the season, they go on sale ot the public. You can buy ticket reserves for your school. As the year goes on, the price goes up.
Once a school's alottment is bought out, the only way to buy the reserves are from people who are listing them on the BCS exchange site. THe sky is the limit price wise and is driven by how much people are willing to pay because they think that their school will go.
You lose the $$$ you put up to buy the reserve no matter what. If your team goes to the game, you get to buy a ticket at face value. In our case, we bought our reserves before the bama game. After fees right around 200, and we got tix for 350 each. We lose the 200 no matter what but since LSU is going we got to exercise the reserves and only pay face.

Thanks for the response. Basically you are purchasing options that will come available if LSU makes it to the game.
May try that next year. Looks like the way to go.
