Mac's decision to play them in crucial parts of that game didn't lose the game for LSU. That game was played in Jackson, MS and OLE MISS was that good. Archie was having a helluva year

Buz, read your own words again please. You are absolutely correct that Ole Miss was a very good team. So Mac let them back in the game by not playing his best QB.

Mike Hillman is the one that produced the big lead of 23-12 and Mac sat him down and let Buddy Lee play, which is fine but Lee wasn't that good that year. He was much better his Senior year.

But I remember we were ahead 23-12 and recovered a fumble early in the 4th quarter at Ole Miss 20 or 30 yard line and instead of playing your best QB and put Ole Miss away, he put in Butch Duhe who was a true Sophomore with hardly any playing experience and there was a fumble exchange with the RB that Ole Miss recovered and they got the momentum going and scored twice in the 4th quarter and won 26-23.

Very nice of Mac to go for the win in the 4th quarter but we should have / could have won the game going away and not get to this point. He kept Ole Miss alive and gave them every opportunity to get back in the game...which they did!!!

chatuey,

All I can say is that you have a better memory of that game than I have!
