It would be my first pistol but I shoot pistols a good bit. Been a hunter for as long as I can remember so I have a stock pile of shotguns and a few rifles.

I'm a CZ fan. I own a CZ P01, and its my favorite pistol. The thing is incredibly accurate, and it just fits my hand like it is an extension of it. Insanely comfortable. Its right up there with Glocks as being one of the most reliable pistols in the world. The CZ 75 is the full size model, and if you do a little research on it, you'll see that at one time it was in use by more police/govt/military agencies world wide than any other pistol. It comes in right, left, ambi, decocker, standard safety, and single action only models. There are competition options, stainless options, alloy frame options, etc. etc.

I also own a Browning Hi-Power. Can't say enough good things about this full size (and heavy) gun. Its the 1911 of the 9mm world.

I have a Glock 26 as well. SOLID pistol with an incredible amount of accessories and aftermarket items available for it. A Glock will never let you down, but some people do not enjoy the way they shoot.

I've fired and been impressed with all of the Sig and Springfield XD models, and the HK USP. I haven't owned any though.

In a .22, I'd recommend Walther P22 as a pure plinker, or perhaps a Ruger Mark III or Browning Buckmark as a plinker/hunter.

Good Luck.
