Why would Kevin warm his highly nutritious microwaveable Mac and cheese dinner like 2-3 minutes before he knew the baddies would be arriving? Seems like he should have planned that out a bit better. Maybe wait until after the fight so that he could actually enjoy the food.
I don't think Peter was too bad of a dad. He seems to be the only reasonable adult at times.

RE: HA2 - So is cancelling the credit cards the only way to know where they were being used? WTF wouldn't one of them say, well lets not cancel them, if our son who is alone in NY Fricking City can figure out how to use them, maybe, just maybe it will help him survive. I'm pretty sure I hate his bitch of a mom more than anyone else in either movie. I'm pretty sure Kevin was a mistake and his birth caused her to miss out on some lifelong dream. The only explanation for the way she treats him.
Some other observations:
1) Kevin is lucky he didn't burn down the house with the door handle trap.
