No, what's a damn shame is the performance last Wednesday at home. That was inexcusable, and has basically already ruined the season for me.
I care about LSU bball as much as anyone and probably more, but when there's nothing positive to talk about since the game last week, then most fans stay quiet - hence, no threads.

I was always taught, if you don't have anything good to say don't say anything at all. This includes LSU basketball.

Hear that Houston is for real. Just hope that Trent can get the LSU team ready.

We just don't have the talent yet to compete. It's simple as that. The good talent we do have is young and raw. They need time to develop. O'bryant, Hickey, and Issac (sp?), will all be good caliber players.

People on here were saying Justin Hamilton was going to bring a good presence to the floor, but I'm seeing the opposite from his play. He plays too damn soft for a big man and he has no offensive game whatsoever. To say that we have so much size in the front court this year, I was expecting to see improvement in that area with the addition of Justin Hamilton. If I were Trent, I would start J.O. in his place. People diss Storm Warren on here, but at least he plays strong in the paint on the defensive side.

ETA: Against USA, there was no reason why we shouldn't have dominated the paint with JH and JO.

I place a lot of the blame on Storm. He should be giving the young players some senior leadership and have a solid senior season. Instead, he is having one of the worst seasons of his career.

Can't be a leader sitting on the bench in foul trouble.

Lets draw up some plays other than the 1 on 1 crap and the shooting 3's. When they stop falling, we stop winning. The talent is young, but we should be winning these games. Up 14 w/ 5 or 6 minutes left and still lose? It's b/c we can run an offense and we can't rebound. Hamilton is too soft, I agree.

To this point they're just not a very good TEAM. I expected to be better defensively in the paint, but we're not.
I agree with Hammond on JH, somewhat. He does play soft for a big guy. I expected him to be a much tougher rebounder. Where I disagree is that JH does have some offense and actually has a nice shooting touch. Problem is he isn't tough enough down low which this team really needs.
JOB has some of the same problem at times. He settles for lower % shots at 15-18 ft, instead of attacking the glass. But, he's young and should only get better.
Storm has some of the same problem, although he's an undersized PF so he gets a little pass.
I won't mention White because he's simply not good.
For the 3rd straight year, this team is very SOFT in the middle. Not sure if TJ is the problem or what, but you can't be very good if you get out rebounded by much smaller teams consistently.

On the Perimeter, we're decent at best. Hickey is a huge improvement at PG. But, he's a Frosh who is still learning and making mistakes.
Stringer is what he is, although he has improved some since he doesn't have to run the point. He can shoot when given an opening. But, he's really small when defending the SG position and he tries to do too much at times.
Turner is a solid player, but LSU needs him to be better than that.
I haven't seen enough of Isaac just yet to form a solid opinion, but he looks like a solid player.

This team will probably be much like they've been to this point, Inconsistent. Unless, their bigs can learn to play with more intensity.

I haven't seen this yet. Maybe, for me, his girly play in the paint is over shadowing his offensive ability

Yeah, I definitely expected him to be much "tougher".

I don't think it's that simple. This year we actually have some legit talent. Last couple years we had zero talent. This year is not the case. What I saw last Wednesday was a very poorly coached team. And I've been a supporter of Trent, but it did not look good last week.

Hickey is the most legit PG we have had in a LONG time. Johnny O is good and can play right now. Stringer is much better now that he is off the ball and not having to play PG. Turner is a legit swing man who can score and gives us good height on the perimeter. And Hamilton is way better than you think. He has shown very good offensive skill for a guy his size. And I haven't even mentioned Storm yet who is our most proven veteran.

So this year I don't see talent being a huge problem. Granted, we are still 2-3 players away from really having enough talent depth wise to compete with the big boys, but this team is 100% more talented than the last 2 years.

I completely disagree with this assessment.

No one would give them the ball. And they were not aligned properly to take advantage of the size. A simple high/low with the 4 and 5 spots would have dominated the game. We didn't see this until very, very late, and then when they went to it, we scored immediately on it. Then we didn't see it again. The team is poorly coached on offense. No one seems to understand how to play the game offensively as a team.

Agree. But if Stringer starts at the 2 spot, then we're already in a hole defensively and on the boards. The key thing this team is missing is a true #3. Turner should be playing 2, with Stringer coming in off the bench to give instant offense. But Turner is forced to play the 3. If Johnny O could play the 3 spot, this team would be better IMO. I just don't know if he's capable of that. Best starting 5 would be Hicky, Turner, O'Bryant, Storm, Hamilton.
