I can claim mileage on business trips. If I make a trip coincide with an LSU game, didn't I essentially write off a trip to see LSU play?

I was mainly referring to the practice of keeping track of my profits and purchases and then making big purchases in Dec to keep me right in the range of where I want to be, tax-wise.
