You really don't know how you will react if you walk into a situation like that. You might be so traumatized you can't react at all and just want to leave hoping what you saw wasn't really happening.
yes, this is true.
I guess just in hindsight everyone is guilty of inaction in this case and McQueary as much as anyone. He told his Dad! why he didn't call the police directly is beyond me!

I don't have that much of a problem with him telling his dad, but his Dad should have told him to call the police or called the police himself.
This is kind of what happens when you live in a place where Penn State football is everything and the last people you want involved in an incident at the university is the autorities.

I read that PA law just requires the witness to report to his superiors what he saw and the superiors carry the burden to report to the authorities.
This of course recognizes that there is a difference between a legal requirement and a moral one. As an adult, he absolutely should have reported it to the authorities instead of calling his daddy.
