No more than two teams from a conference may be selected, regardless of whether they are automatic qualifiers or at-large selections, unless two non-champions from the same conference are ranked No. 1 and No. 2 in the final BCS Standings.
So if UGA wins the SEC, but LSU and Bama stay #1/#2, then you could have 3. So essentially impossible.

Does not matter who is 3rd.
BCS limits to 2 per Conf.

No more SEC team can go to a BCS bowl if that happens. TWo max.
quote:this is not entirely accurate. there is a way for a conference to have 3 teams in the BCS bowl games. its if 2 teams- from the same conference- are 1 and 2 in the BCS formula and another team wins an automatic berth. #1 LSU losing to someone in the SECCG is a scenario this could happen if LSU and bama still end up #1 and #2.
no SEC school
only 2 schools from one BCS conference are allowed in BCS bowls
unlikely, but possible

I have never understood why they put that rule in there. We would have to lose the SEC CG and then play bama in the NCG for this rule to take effect then the SEC champ would be in the sugar.
That would never happen
That would never happen
