what is it going to take for CBS to want to do a weekly night game?

That is more than watched the last two National championship games.

By moving the game to night time did CBS admit that their 230 slot is in reality a shitty time?

huge:
HUGE! No. 1 LSU beat No. 2 Alabama in overtime and while the game was close, last night's ratings were no contest. CBS won in a landslide In addition to the numbers below not being time zone adjusted, they are only for the 8p-11p portion of coverage and a some of the fourth quarter and all of the overtime ran past 11pm on the east coast. We'll need to wait for the final numbers, but we don't need to wait to know that the final numbers will be very big and CBS will win the night easily.

It's not like they don't want a night game every week

If they had the ability to have one, they would take it

The problem for CBS is their agreement only allows them 1 to 2 night games a year. ESPN likely won't allow them to move more because it will hurt their Saturday Night games.
I really wish the Arkansas game was on a Saturday instead of Friday, because then maybe CBS would think about moving it to a night game, but the SEC contract and ESPN probably won't allow it.

ETA: i clicked the link and see its a 6.1-7 depending on the time.

Game 7 of the World Series drew 25 million, but that was on a Sunday night, which usually has a much larger audience.

The NC was on by itself. The World Series Final is different, especially given that it was a game 7 of a strange series.
This game hit that many sets with 2 other top 15 matchups on, and I was in the NW and they had nearly every TV in the place tuned in to the UW/UO game.
That's pretty impressive for a regular season game.

Did they put the Arkansas game back on friday? I thought the move was permanent.

Is that a lot?
By comparison, season one of LOST averaged 18.96 million viewers each week.
But more to the point, does it out-perform Saturday Night non-football primetime programming?
Next Saturday night, they have Big Bang Theory (15.4), 2 Broke Girls (19.2), The Mentalist (15.2), and 48 Hours (5.8).

If last night’s LSU-Alabama game earned the second-highest rating for a regular-season college football game on CBS, then who was the first highest?
