I've heard some other word that UConn may be involved. Hopefully that is not the case.

It appears that Gathers is considering not signing in the early period and waiting to see how the season plays out. If he is considering UConn, St. Johns and LSU, all three of those have some big question marks that could get answered this season.

1. Trent Johnson's job security is at stake and could be cemented with a good year.
2. Lavin's health is an issue. He was not at their season opener last night.
3. Calhoun was supposedly considering retirement before this season and didn't. He could retire after this season.

Regarding LSU, it is my belief that Gathers likes LSU, especially Brent Scott, but was gun-shy about committing to LSU with Johnson's job in jeopardy. I think LSU has done a good job of convincing him to at least wait until the spring to see how the season plays out.

The signing period starts tommorrow, so we will see.

Seems like the smart thing to do and bodes well for LSU IMO.

ESPN was streaming either yesterday or Sunday that Lavin will NOT be coaching this year as he recovers from Prostate Cancer. I'm sure that doesn't help St. John's situation...

Calhoun retires after this year IMO, he has a great team but Lamb and Drummond are gone after this year and they are going to be ineligible for the 2013 tournament due to their APR. Makes me feel a little uncomfortable about LSU's chances though if he goes from committed to a dirty school in St. John's to considering maybe the dirtiest program in the country in UConn. Hopefully Jordy is right.
