I probably would have put this in an existing thread, but this board has been slow today. I follow Mike DeArmond on twitter. He is the Kansas City Star's Mizzou beat writer. He posted this about 6 PM yesterday evening.

I am sick of Mizzou's angst and drama and whatever else is behind their agonizing journey through the land of indecision.

I still think the only holdup is the buyout money and Neinas trying to force them to stay with Bevo and his bitches for 2012.

Yea! How dare they take their time to make a super important decision for their University. I mean decisions that could affect your school for decades should be made on a whim, damn it!

I believe Mizzou's curators meet next Thursday/Friday. It isn't "officially" about realignment, but IF they have an opportunity to go to the SEC, wouldn't be shocking to see them withdraw from the Bovine 9 after the meetings.

We fans are aggravated only because we don't know what's going on between Mizzou and the SEC Commissioner's office. Everyone involved in this process is jumping through hoops trying to mitigate any potential damage that might be alleged...and you know there will be attorneys all over this.

Think of this way, Mike Slive is nobody's fool and his reputation is at stake in all of this realignment stuff. He won't fall asleep at the wheel.

If we're aggravated, can you imagine how aggravated the ADs, Presidents, Coaches, and conference folks are?

God I hope we reject them... I really would like the SEC to actually remain a southeastern conference

Too late for that. A&M was already accepted into the conference.

Matter of fact, why don't we kick out everyone who isn't in Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida or Louisiana. Everyone the frick else is too far in the wrong direction!!!

Hell, let's make it just schools in the states of Georgia, Florida and Alabama. You fricks are too far west!

(See what it looks like when you go full retard?)

Hell, you really didn't go "full retard'.
If you had, you would have limited the "Southeastern Conference" to the only true Southeastern state, Florida.

Now, there's an idea. shite, Florida has as many, if not more, BCS caliber schools as Texas. You'd have the Bevo Conference against the Storm Evacuation Conference.

BTW...I do agree with your logic. We'd still be living in log cabins if some folks had their way...simple minds pursue simple solutions to big problems.

I'm tired of Mizzouri. We shouldn't add them in the first place. Let them wait in the B12 for the B10 to come calling(never).

They said they want the big 10, so let them stay, I rather raid an acc school then rush in just to have 14 teams

Yes - pledging their undying loyalty to the new, improved B12 - that's what I am hearing.
Unless something changes quite a bit, they don't have the votes.

Excellent point.

And Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and the eastern half of Texas could come together and make the South-Central conference.

College Station is just as "southeastern" as Fayetteville, which is an hour or two from both Oklahoma and Missouri.

There is a pretty big story in today's Columbia newspaper about buyout fees. There isn't a lot of new information, but every one of these that I read makes me more convinced that this is the only holdup at this point.

The cost of walking away? It’s negotiable
quote:

MU officials have privately expressed concerns over how much it would owe the Big 12 in exit fees. A 45-page realignment report obtained by The Associated Press states the school estimates a penalty of up to $25.9 million if it joins the SEC within the next year.

In reality, sports law experts said Missouri’s financial and legal barriers are overstated.

The letter of the law is deceptive. Per Big 12 bylaws, schools must give two year’s notice to leave the conference. If Missouri alerts the Big 12 between six months and one year before leaving, 90 percent of its conference television revenue over a two-year period would be withheld. MU expects to earn about $13 million this year, which would mean a projected $23.4 million penalty.

But one former sports agent compared the conference contract to the astronomical room prices posted on the inside of hotel doors.

“No one ever pays that amount,” said Robert Boland, who teaches sports business at New York University.

The Big 12 established a precedent last summer that could hurt the league in negotiations with Missouri and Texas A&M. Nebraska and Colorado paid only $9.25 million and $6.86 million, less than half of the liquidated damages they owed under contract.

Experts say the league likely would demand a slightly higher settlement from Missouri and Texas A&M than it extracted from Nebraska and Colorado because of greater damages associated with the latest defections.

Hey some people think that's chump change. Hell of course Mizzou have to think hard, doubt if many schools have that much money to throw away.
