Something's wrong with my browser...

Everytime I google something, and click on one of the search result links, I am brought to a completely bogus web site. No matter what link I click, the same site shows up.
For instance, I just googled "BCBG aqua blue cashmere pashmina."
I get the accurate link for what I'm looking for on ebay. I clink the link and this web site shows up, and no, it's not eBay.
douchebag website that shows up
Someone help, please? TIA

You'd be better off with this thread on the OT. Try superantispywareblaster and/or running malewarebytes as admin in safe mode.

I have no idea what you just said, but I'll google it on my phone.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Download AVAST. It's the best free antivirus out there.

Happened to me for months. are you using firefox?
If so, click firefox in the top left corner of the browser, click add-ons. If there is an add-on there called XULRunner, this is the culprit. Disable it, problem solved. Worked for me.

I'm having a similar problem but the only place I get add-ons is in the tools section. Clicking on the add-ons there brings me to a website for firefox add-ons.

I'm running the newest version...maybe yours is different? Anyway, find your list of add-ons you're running, and see if that one is on there. When I disabled it everything went away.
This was causing me to redirect the first link I clicked on a google search to some ad site via google.ads.doubleclick or something like that

That's the problem I've been having. I get a redirect but it's random. I will probably just install the latest version, thanks.

Did you check what add-ons you're running? I had the problem for the last 3 versions, I just finally got pissed enough to google it and that was the answer I found.

i had the same thing about a month back. anytime i googled something it would say "redirect" and send me to some weird site. i downloaded all kind of malware bites and crap to remove it and it didnt work. I finally went into like uninstall programs and found "Youtube downloader", deleted that and the stuff went away.

Nope, I sure don't.

It is definitely malware, and you will need malwarebytes or spybot (or any of a number of alternatives) to get rid of it. Afterwards, you will probably also have to change your browser's proxy settings. Most of them set a proxy server to itself in order to do the redirects. You need to change it to no proxy at all. (If you do this first, the malware will change it back if it's still installed)
