Frank Giardina Opinion: What Went Wrong vs. LSU? Answer-Nothing

Fans will say "if we hadn't turned the ball over so much, we might have won the game." True. But there is a reason for the turnovers. The reason is LSU is pretty darned good. They are bigger, faster and better than most teams in the country and the team with better players is more likely to cause turnovers. It is not rocket science. They caused the turnovers, they created the turnovers and they forced the mistakes.

I've bee saying this to anyone who will listen for some time now. Teams don't just luck into turnovers, field position, timely scores, etc. It is the result of strength, speed, superior players and coaching.

Watching the replay we could have had more turnovers as well

I think WV and Oregon will win out.
They are good teams that just got beat down. Here's to LSU pouring it on for the rest of the season.

LSU is 4th in the Nation on turnover margin and 1st in the SEC. The turnovers are not by chance.

True. Like for instance TM7 rips the ball from the reciver's hand and forces a fumble. A different DB might just be content to bring down the receiver. It's coaching and superior abilities... not blind luck.

This. I read something a while back where Brandon Taylor talked about the D watching film on the saints and how they cause turnovers

This guy gets it.
To those who I come across that say LSU is "lucky" and Oregon, West Virginia "beat themselves" and such I always explain it like this.........As an athlete on the field, you can feel when the other guys are bigger, stronger, and faster. And good teams with good athletes aren't used to that feeling. All of a sudden you aren't able to get to a spot you thought you could, break a tackle you thought you could, run over a guy in a situation you usually do.
Its a shock mentally and causes mistakes to happen. Desperation and panic sets in and its over. Those who just think those losing teams beat themselves are delusional and making excuses. And they start searching for evidence to support those excuses and look at garbage passing stats. Yardage stats and such are for losers to find moral victories so they don't have to accept the reality that they simply aren't as good.

I keep turning it over in mind - I think we still win the game without Wing, but it would have been much dicier. The WVU punter was terrible - one of the worst we've faced in a long time and we would have won the field position anyway, just not as decisively - but Wing's punts (ETA and our smothering punt coverage) doomed their offense, from a scoring perspective.

Taylor and Reid dropped INTs in the same possession.

before the Oregon game my brother and I just sat there watching Wing practice. it was jaw dropping as one punt after another went above the big screen. If there was a team MVP vote Id put him behind Lee, TM7 and Ware, but that might be about it.

Good article. Also, look how Oregon responded after playing LSU. Back to their former selves scoring tons of points.

Looking at the WV schedule going forward, I actually expect them to win out. Oregon has a tougher slate, but if they beat Stanford they're in the PAC 12 championship game, and likely PAC 12 champs (no one in the South can beatr them). How sweet would it be to have wins over two otherwise undefeated teams and conference champs.

The least most butthurt fan/writer I've seen in years. He doesn't degrade his team or make excuses; just tells it like it is. WVU and Oregon are good, LSU is just better.

Note the lone comment:
"Well the punter hasn't been worth a darn all year long"
OURS SURE HAS

I think I've read more truth in that article than any in several years. Good stuff

And I bet the WV fans hate him with the passion we hate Guilbeau

For every turnover the other team has to make a successful play. The DB still has to catch the ball even if it's thrown right to him.
