There were two issues with sacks that really stuck out in my mind . .
First, in 2009, Jefferson was taken too long of strides in his drop back giving the DEs a great angle to attack him. A lot of the sacks we gave up were due to this. Either the DE would get to him quick, or he was in scramble mode in the first two seconds of the play.
The second issue is that this was never corrected in 2009. It was an obvious problem. The QB coach should have recognized it and worked on it in the first few weeks of the season in order to get Jefferson placed properly in the pocket. That never happened.
It wasn't until Jefferson returned in 2010 that we saw a difference in his drop back.
