If LSU keeps getting primetime games and wins the NC, we'll probably end up with who we want remaining...

You can't beat the publicity. It's more about what LSu does the rest of the year though as the season is early. UGA was ranked number one a few years back and had a disappointing year, really didn't help their recruiting.

we don't have a lot of room left unless we have 2 or more greydhirts. we are holding spots for collins, alexander, liggins, phillips, maybe devall. only a couple spots left without greyshirts.
also, it is possible that hill and dhaquille williams will be "ELIGIBLE".

I'd say its not the number 1 ranking per se this time of the year, but the numerous raves that LSU gets on the various sport shows and articles on the internet. The descriptions of the defense being "like a gang of goons putting someone in a sack and beating them with boards" etc., really stick with recruits.

Winning the national championship and being heavily favored to repeat in 2012 may actually result in our first 5* linebacker in the last 20 years!

Winning the NC this year would give the Tigers the distinction of having every recruit in the BCS ERA who fulfilled his 4 year commitment to be wearing a NC ring. Every LSU signee since 1999 has won a national championship--if this year ends up with a win in the Superdome... Awesome, eh? You'd think that would be a handy recruiting tool.

FWIW winning the championship has the biggest impact on the following year of recruiting. But yes being ranked #1 is huge.
