In ~ 1949, my dad and his frat buddies went to the LSU/Bama game in Alabama. There was a parade or something through Birmingham, which included a live elephant mascot following the band. My dad and his buddy went into a hardware store near the parade route and bought some purple and gold paint. They went up to the elephant and poured purple and gold paint on it's side.
Not sure how cool it was, and of course PITA would have been up in arms if it existed back then, but I think it's a cool story. To me, he was such a straight laced businessman, and I couldn't even picture him doing something like that as a kid. It really cracks me up.

My dad knew your dad. He didn't go on that trip but he told me about this. I had forgotten about it. Those guys pulled a lot of pranks, such as taking one guys car completely apart a reassembling it back in one of the Stadium Dorms.
