No wonder the ACC commissioner said they are being "proactive" when they took teams from the Big East. Damn right, they know what's coming.

Cue threads debating the pros and cons of Maryland in the SEC...

So the gentlemen's agreement to block FSU/Clemson/GT is just a farce? No way UF wants FSU in.

This is huge - the saga continues.

Just heard on Brando that FSU and Maryland blocked the proposed 34 mill exit fee. It will remain at 20 mill.
No wonder SEC said no to WVU. They are talking to schools on the low. And Mizzou is dumb enough to want to stay in the Big 12, they're committed to keeping it together

Would Maryland not make more sense to the B1G than to the SEC? Maybe they had a deal to jump to the Big East? I dunno, just grasping at straws here.
I don't want them.

Would Maryland not make more sense to the B1G than to the SEC?

Maryland would join the Big Ten. That's the theory. It borders PA and would use the academics justification as well. Plus I don't see them as a SEC school. Va Tech and NC State would be better options from the ACC.

Just for clarification.
FSU/Maryland did not block a new proposal to raise the exit fee from 20 million to 34.
They were instrumental in the recent raise from 16 to 20 million, keeping it from going to 34.
That may/may not make a difference in your thinking on the matter.

Technically, Maryland is south of the Mason-Dixon line. And a lot of Big Ten people have never liked Penn State in the league because they're too far east, so I'd say Maryland makes more sense in the SEC than Big Ten. Not that Maryland in the SEC makes much sense itself.
