They are trying to secure their conference. This story is starting to spread fast. Has something to do with Beebe being ousted.

More $$ obviously.. More national exposure. We already have ties to the midwest and texas areas with Holgorsem. Sure as hell not stability though.

BYU is reportedly the 3rd team involved as well.

are you happy with that? It depends on how bad you perceive your current situation.

West Virginia needs to get out of the Big East. The SEC won't take them. The ACC won't either.

This is a good move for them I guess. The Big 12, though unstable, is probably in better shape than the Big East when it comes to football. And a good athletics schools like West Virginia can only help to stabilize the Big 12.

I don't know who the SEC is going to add for #14. Hopefully NC State now I guess.

For your sake, I hope it doesn't happen. You don't want to be in the Big 12, trust me.

Exactly. It's like should we just opt for the death penalty (staying in the BE) or wait it out on death row for 5 years by going to the B12.

I guess we're just condemned to death either way

I know this may be Germans but just to point out here. The new Big 12 commish is reported to be Chuck Neinas. Look who is a former employee of the new Big 12 commish.

The following individuals were employed by Chuck Neinas in his capacity as commissioner of the Big Eight Conference or as executive director of the College Football Association and have subsequently enjoyed a successful career in athletic administration:

* Sam Baker, Director of Athletics, Georgia Southern University
* Mike Bohn, Director of Athletics, University of Colorado-Boulder
* Tryg Brody, Sales Manager, Hotel Del Coronado, Coronado Island, California, and former sales manager at the Greenbrier, a hotel and resort in West Virginia
* DeLoss Dodds, Director of Athletics, University of Texas-Austin

The new Big 12 will be the same old same old with UT having direct influence on the league through the commissioner . Man how arrogant is that.

I'd be surprised if the B12 takes WVU. The reason the SEC didnt take WVU was poor academics. Also the reason Texas and/or OU weren't interested in the SEC was outside of UF, UGA, and Vandy academics aren't great. OU and UT want to be in a conference with Schools that they feel are up to their academic standards. That's why OU and UT were interested in the PACxx and the ACC. Solid academics in these conferences, ESP the PAC.

WVU would instantly be the lowest rated academic institution in the SEC if accepted.

Amazingly silly reason to omit a team from the SEC. If we were talking about the U. of Phoenix I could understand. It's the SEC, not the Ivy League.

Overall academics are bad (according to a poll that is heavily favored to bigger schools, US News)

I know this though, in sports WVU would have the second highest football graduation rate behind only Vandy, and 3rd in basketball behind Vandy and Georgia.

I agree 100%, but that's why WVU was denied by the SEC. They don't want their academic rating lowered. Look at aTm... Solid academics and solid athletics.
