texas started it. they had been using Dan Beebe as their puppet to accumulate more and more power and influence for years. their $300 million mega deal with their new business partner ESPN was the straw that broke the camel's back. nebraska and colorado finally had enough and said f*ck the whorns. A&M too.

Penn St. in like 1990, then Arkansas and USCe, then SWC & Big 8, then a bunch of frick sticks on the east coast did some shuffling, then a bunch of little schools that nobody really cares about did some shite in the WAC or MWC or C-USA or MEAC or GSC or something, then Colorado/Nebraska, then some more little school doing shite nobody cares about, then TAMU, then whatever the hell is going on now.
