Its got to be something beyond their little brothers OK ST and TT. I'd say it was the TV rights but it seems with those two there'd be more money than ever available.

Is it the competition? I'm thinking Texas/OU are scared of the competition. I know some might say "ludicrious!" but what's the deal? You'd think they'd want to be part of the best instead of lording over a bunch of two bit teams like the Texas Schools or ACCbasketball.

For the 1 billionth time, the Texas president is a Cal alum who is an academic snob. He really wants Texas in the Pac 10 but could live with the Big 10 or ACC.

As for being scared of the competition......who would that be? The Texas AD? Mack? Neither are making this decision.

You're telling me Texas' fate is being decided by one sweater vest wearing douche from the coast?

You think athletics isn't driving this decision one bit? Really?

Texas belongs in the PAC-##, Big ## or Super ACC -Culturally, Academically and Athletically. Texas Tech, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State do not.

This is all about football. Texas is taking Curly Larry and Moe out west so that they are not outdone by Texas A&M.

Because it makes zero sense.
One man is going to extreme longterm FOOTBALL and athletic decision based purely on overhyped academic numbers?

From Crazy TigerFans thread...

quote:

PAC-12/14/16
1. Stanford (5) (AAU)
2. Cal-Berkley (21) (AAU)
3. Southern Cal (23) (AAU)
4. UCLA (25) (AAU)
5. Washington (42) (AAU)
6. Colorado (94) (AAU)
7. Oregon (101) (AAU)
8. Washington State (115)
9. Arizona (124) (AAU)
10. Utah (124)
11. Arizona State (132)
12. Oregon State (138)
13.
14.
15.
16.

quote:

1. Texas (45) (AAU)
10. Oklahoma (101)
11. Oklahoma State (132)
13. Texas Tech (160)

As you can see, yea the top 5 of the pac12 is very good, but the rest are nothing to write home about. Now, adding Texas certainly adds to the academic prestige, but it is completely offset by adding three lightweights.

You are telling me, one Cal alum is deciding the future of your entire athletic program because of academics? That sounds ridiculous.
If that were the case, why didn't Texas join the pac12 last year instead of staying in a pretty weak academic conference (big12).

To be honest, you could be right, because I can't see any logical reason a Texas school would want to go play football on the west coast. It literally makes zero sense. Same for OU.

Fine, I am only going to do this once. But in the future know that rebutting every dumbass thing you ever wrote is a waste of time.
The B1G conference is the once conference were Academia plays any type of role due to the CIC. The PAC Conference itself is not a highly academic conference. The Cal State University Systems, SC and Stanford all work together similarly to the B1G School’s CIC network. But that hasn’t been much help the remaining PAC school Oregon, Oregon State, Washington State, AZ, AZ State, Utah, and Colorado. And they want to dilute the PAC’s Prowess by bringing Tech and OSU.

But if this really all matter that much to them they wouldn’t be looking at the PAC at all. They would be looking ACC and B1G. Additionally the SEC > than the Big 12 in Ranking.

It makes perfect sence for Texas. They screwed up their own conference by being greedy.

This really sucks for Oklahoma. They + Nebraska were the lead dogs in the old Big 8. They brought Texas, A&M, TTU and Baylor - yes Baylor, to join their conference. Now they have to run out on the teams that they have been associated with for the better part of the last century because Texas screwed everything up.

Well consider that theory squashed as your president doesnt even have the power to decide to go west.

Despite the media, the Ok schools are still an SEC possibility.
And yet one more time, UT is out because of their LHN.

TN if he's so worried about academics why not?

My point is it's a bogus argument!
