Why would the current teams of these conferences want expansion?

I realize they are going to make more money. Is that worth the cost of being competetive?

What advantage is it to Arizona St. or Washington to have OU, OSU and all these other teams join the PAC-12? Why does Ole Miss, MSU and Arkansas want to compete with another SEC West team that could quickly be a much stronger program?

And vice-versa. If you are OSU, whay go to compete against all these other schools when you could stay in a BCS conference without Texas and OU and have a much better chance at making a BCS bowl? Why wouldn't Texas want to be the biggest player in the Big-12?

Are there some bylaws in the BCS that I don't know about? Can't the Big 12 just cherry pick from the Mountain West and the WAC to backfill there losses?

With this bad economy you need all the Money you can get, boosters donating aren't doing enough. A lot of athletic departments are in debt. Hell I'm making more money but my donations to TAF(member for 12yrs) are down because utility bills higher, gas prices are killing me, food higher. I'm sure there's a lot of people in my shoes.

I think this is going ot happen. Then in 20 years or so, they will all realize how dumb it was and split back up again.

Okay, so let's say the least amount of teams Team A would want in you conference is 12, that way they can have a conference championship game.

Now, with two 6 team divisions, Team A are competing against 5 other teams. I've heard some people speculate about "super" conferences that may include as many as 20 teams. Even if only 16, Team A is now competing against 7 other teams instead of 5. Now, if team A is LSU, Bama, Texas, or the like, this will not affect them as much. It will somewhat though, from a competition standpoint anyway. If Team A is Mississippi St., Washington, Arizona, when would they ever be able to go to the conference championship game?

These mega conferences are really going to screw the mid level schools out of any chance at competing.
