Seemingly, the major criticism about Lee during his 2008 campaign was the number of picks he threw, particularly pick sixes. Why does he get blamed for all of those pick sixes? Yes, the one against Auburn was ill-advised and easily returned, but I remember some of those pick sixes were ridiculous returns through the entire offensive team. Wasn't it just poor tackling? Why is he singled out for this?

And as for throwing 16 picks that year, a lot of great QBs started off their careers throwing a lot of picks - the biggest example being Peyton Manning at Indy in his rookie season. Brett Favre is a future NFL hall of famer who famously threw picks his entire career. At least in 2008, he was trying to make the throws, and that offense was in many ways far better than the ones we've had in 2009 and 2010, right? It was just that our defense kind of sucked that year.

Also, remember that in spite of the bad defense and all of those picks, we were exceedingly close to being a 10 win team that year (we were 8-5 with an OT loss to Bama and a hail mary loss at Arky).

In five of the seven, the defender was untouched.

The problem with Lee's INTs in 2008 was that they were thrown under the routes, which allowed the DBs/LBs an open field to return.

I agree that it is a bit unfair to pin all of the TD's against Lee

Not really.

The running game in 2008 was better than 2009, but probably not as good as 2010.

Passing game has been pretty shitty since 2008.

With all of the turnovers, we still averaged 31 points per game in 2008. We were under 30 in both 2009 and 2010. As we know, 2009 was particularly bad.

2008 was better than 2009?

In what categories?

Interceptions? 2009 better
Passing yards? 2009 better
Completions 2009 better
Wins? 2009 better
TDs? 2009 better
Completion percentage? 2009 better

Please tell me.

You sound like a revisionist.

It's amazing how many yards and points you can get when the other team is playing prevent.

Similarly, it's amazing how many yards and points you won't get when you get the opportunity to play conservatively because you are winning.

1. I've already talked about the interceptions.
2. WRONG. We averaged over 200 ypg in 2008 in the air and just over 180 in 2009.
3. WRONG. We had more pass completions in 2008 though (206 v. 198).
4. Yes, we had one more win in 2009 with a much better defense.
5. In 2008, we had 21 TDs passing. In 2009, we had 19. So again wrong.
6. Yes, completion percentage was better.

Most importantly, we scored almost 1 TD more per game in 2008 v. 2009.

Wow, you're wrong yet again. Do you not let facts get in the way of talking out of your arse.

In 2008, we scored 23.6% of our points in the fourth quarter. In 2009, we scored 26.3% of our points in the fourth quarter and OT. Any other smart points you want to make?

I remember the Georgia one being pretty terrible.

Ktowntiger I think made a video once that showed all of them. Wish we could see that again.

I don't think any of this is productive. It's a new year. Lee has command of the team. It's a waste of time trying to explain 2008. 2008 is 2008, just as I would have saide 2010 was 2010. This is a new year. Jarrett Lee will throw interceptions. He will also make great plays. If we can run, pass, and defend effectively, we will be OK. It's not necessary to dig in the past.

The team needs the fans' support right now.

nope. there were a couple that required tough returns through the offense, but most were guys catching the ball against 4 and 5 wide and just taking it back the other way almost unimpeded. a lot of that is on the QB's decision making, but also on the play calls themselves.

oh, and there was 1 that wasn't a pick 6 against SCar because of a great effort by Trindon. but the guy had gotten down to the 1 or 2, and try though the D did, S Car got the TD anyway.

Your statistic is completely irrelevant. It does not consider whether we were ahead or not.

But nice try anyway.

Moss did NOT start the thread.

The OP is talking about the problems with revisionism while being revisionist.
