It seems to me that the more people that I talk to are not in favor of A&M joining the SEC. We are proud of our conference and have built something great in the SEC, so it is no surprise that a team wants to come crawling to the SEC and ask if they can be a part of the best conference. Maybe it was this way when Arky and S Carolina joined but I remember them being invited to join, not begging for a spot like the Aggies. If this is true can we all agree that the Aggies are going to be the Bastard Child of the SEC?

no

that will always be Arkansas. Even when we go to 16 teams, it will still be Arkansas. And any dumbfrick who doesnt want A&M is shortsighted

I'm sure that the conversations between ARK/SEC and aTm/SEC were very similar. The perception changes due to the internet and sports forums.

16 team mega conferences are the future. TAMU is a win-win situation for both the Aggies and the SEC. Just because they started this wheel rolling doesn't mean it is a bad deal. Open your eyes to the big picture.

The conclusion that A&M is "crawling to the SEC" is completely wrong. There has been a process the entire time and it appears this whole thing has been in motion for well over 2 months. The SEC presidents called their meeting a few weeks ago to try and silence the rumors (mainly when Rick Perry said A&M an the SEC were talking) that were the fuel to mounting political pressures in the state of Texas. Since then everything has been calm and calculated. The end goal, however, has always been the same and no one is "begging" for a spot. There's a ton to gain from bringing A&M into the SEC which I'm sure you'll start hearing from the higher ups on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week when A&M is voted into the conference.

Thanks for the laughs, OP.

If the feelings weren't mutual between A&M and the SEC, this would have all been 100%, unequivocally shot down a long time ago.

It hasn't been shot down in an official statement by the SEC because it's going to happen. Post your address and I'll send you some Aggie gear when it does, and you can hang it in effigy or set it on fire or whatever y'all do pre-game.

I welcome Texas A&M wholeheartedly. The idea that they will be a "bastard child in the SEC" is laughable. With their addition to the SEC, everybody wins. A&M will bring more money, great game day experiences, a larger TV audience and an enhanced image to an already great SEC.

tamu will never be fully accepted by fans as a true SEC member.

I think the vast majority of SEC fans will accept them. I must admit it, they know what they are doing when it comes to tailgating and their school pride, while borderline creepy, is right in line with SEC pride.

FTBLFN you sound like this guy

Acceptance? We're not even in the SEC yet. In twenty years it'll be hard remembering a time when A&M wasn't in.

The only place I find a lot of support amongst fans for A&M joining the SEC is online.

In person, most people I talk to aren't in favor of A&M. A few are indifferent.

I don't know anybody who thinks its a good thing.

That's funny wmr,

The only place I can find support of Arkie fans staying in the SEC is online.

In person, most people I talk to aren't in favor of the SEC and want to join the Big XII. A few are indifferent.

Nobody really thinks the SEC is a good thing.

Boy you really got me there.

I know its hard for you to imagine, but most SEC fans love the conference we're in. As such, many see no advantage to changing it to help out the Aggies.

A&M will be a great addition to the SEC, and the state of Texas' entry into our conference will be a real plus. I for one, will look forward to it being made "official."
