Drunkin Thoughts.....to hell with spell check

IF the SEC offers an invitation to A&M.....I think A&M will become the Florida of the 90's...it will take a few years....but here is my opinion.....Texas produces a ton of high school talent...there is no question about that...but now the recruits have more reasons than ever to stay at home. The Big 12, just like the SWC, is basically all Texas schools, with the exception of OU. The SEC offers more national recognization than the Big 12.
A&M can offer all of the 5 star recruits a chance to play in the best conference America without leaving the state. UT has more history than A&M, but UT does not play in the SEC....yes I'm biased.
I also think this closes down the recruiting border as opposed to opening it. LSU will continue and possibly Arkansas will be able to get 4 & 3 stars kids from Texas but the 5 star kids can now stay at home. UTex will also be able to convimce their recruits they will have an easier road to MNC, but A&M can say....come play in the breeding ground for the NFL.
I love my Tigers but A&M comming to the league will not affect LSU, but it will enhance the Aggies ability to recruit,

Thanks dante. I have been trying to say this to all these Arkansas morons that suddenly think they are going to come in and steal a bunch of elite talent from the state. LSU and Arkansas will get their Texas guys like you said, but A&M recruiting is going to sky rocket. Why play for Texas in a piece of shite conference, when you can play for Texas A&M, a program on the rise and in the best conference in college football? Mom and dad want to see their sons play ball close to home. Their sons want to play in the SEC and stay in the state as well. Its a match made in heaven.

With OU and OSU and Tech and Texas possibly going to the Pac-Large conference (SOON), then A&M might have a chance to sell Texas kids on a great football conference ...

Their recruiting isnt going to skyrocket like you think. Texas will always have the edge. In the end, it only comes down to coaching. LSU had the best recruiting situation in the SEC for forty years. It didnt mean shite until nick saban came along.

I agree coaching has a lot to do with the results, but guess what......A&M will have 2 to 3 times more 4&5 star recruits within the state of Texas to recruit than we will in Louisiana.

and in louisiana you are recruiting against no one while A&M will still recruit against texas and oklahoma with LSU and Arky fighting them.

Sherman is building the foundation. He has assembled a great staff as well. One 9-4 season, which is average by many of you here yields a top 5 recruiting class for 2012..
Recruiting will definitely get better. You don't live in Texas. The fascination over the Texas Longhorns has been a result of a good decade with many bowl wins, including a national championship. Once shite hits the fan, which it will this year for Texas, people will start jumping ship. Thats how Texas fans are. Everything is all good they are on top of the world, but when things falter they abandon ship, and they do it quickly. Ridiculous to think that they are selling tickets to the Rice game for 30 dollars. An aggie decade of irrelevance doesn't help either.
With A&M on the rise and being in the SEC you would be dumb to think that aggie recruiting will not improve. I don't like using this term very much, but we are a sleeping giant. We have been hibernating for a while now. Its time to take back our state.

dude, you dont have a top five class until signing day closes. And even the, it takes multiple good classes. Also bama got a number 1 class and auburn a number 4 after 7-6 and 8-5 seasons respectively.

The fascination over texas is they are the number one team in the state. They have more fans and will get talked about more. Its just how it is.

Dude, Texas brought in the most money in college football on a down year.

dude, a sleeping giant manages more than 2 top 5 fiishes in the polls in their history.

Like, your entire history? Sriously, the only reason Slocum was good was because Texass was de-emphasizing football and the Sotuhwest conference blew donkey nuts. Why do you think you got your asses kicked in a bowl every year under him? Same reason arky did in the 80's. Because winning the SWC didnt mean shite.
Its time to take back our state.

Yup, a lot of bandwagon and tshirt fans. Once A&M starts winning and Texas starts to decline, the poles will shift.
Time will tell.

No, it wont. Texas has always been bigger, and always will be.

Please let me know a time period when you had mor fns and more support in state than texas.

I don't think anyone is going to dominate the SEC. A&M will get a boost in recruiting, but this will just be enough to keep them in roughly the same position in a tougher conference, and as teams rise and fall with regularity they will get a chance at a title every now and then. The big difference is that they will be respected in the SEC as you don't have to win the title to get respect. There aren't two big dogs that will always just put them down.

roll your eyes all you want. that doesnt make your delusions true.
look i hate texas, but you're bat shite crazy if you think they havent been number one in texas in terms of fan support since at least the fifties. i man mack brown has one less top 10 finish as a coach than yall do as a program- and hes a fricking underachiever!

I never denied it. I just said that during the 80s and 90s Texas A&M dominated the series and had success on the field, while Texas did not. We were the number 1 team in the state. Lots of people jumped on the bandwagon and cheered for the Aggies.
Ask any longhorn that went through that time period, and they will tell you that is the reason that they don't ever want to see the Aggies have any sort of success. We were in your face and were obnoxious about our winning, and they never want to go through that ever again. We pushed their shite and didn't stop reminding them about it.
