Lee, A Person Of Character

Character is becoming more and more rare these days it seems, especially in college football. I was reading these quotes and find them applicable to Jarrett Lee who is indeed a person of character and I commend him for that.
"Good character is more to be praised than outstanding talent. Most talents are, to some extent, a gift. Good character, by contrast, is not given to us. We have to build it, piece by piece -- by thought, choice, courage, and determination"
"The discipline you learn and character you build from setting and achieving a goal can be more valuable than the achievement of the goal itself"
"Character is the final decision to reject whatever is demeaning to oneself or to others and with confidence and honesty choose what is right"
"A man has no more character than he can command in a time of crisis"
"Watch your thoughts; they become words. Watch your words; they become actions. Watch your actions; they become your habits. Watch your habits; they become your character. Watch your character; it becomes your destiny"

Jl has character but he could also use some experienced wide outs. They are going to blitz him. ODB better know the hot routes!

Lee only has to hit the over the top routes on a blitz a couple of times to make that crap stop. His first TD pass to Toliver v. Florida was that exact scenario. I am gonna be enjoying this beat-down with extreme prejudice on Saturday.

Great post about our starting QB. With a half page of responses. While there is a 40+ page thread on the suspended player (well, only one of them) that has been charged with a felony. Guess we know priorities of our fanbase.

Pretty lame post. I'm sure you can imagine why a thread discussing a major on-going issue would attract more interest than a thread that reads like an after school special.
ETA: That may have been too harsh. By all accounts, Lee is a great guy. Since no one is disputing that fact, what's the point of a thread like this.

Your signature pic makes it clear why you would say that. I'm sure you are one of the "fans" that posted about supporting our starting QB while last year's starter was stinking up the field, and yet will boo the guy starting this game at the first slight mistake.
What a bunch of hypocrites we have.

I would bet everything in my pockets that you'll be booing Lee before I will. I made my position on that weak shite clear last year. I pull for the players on the team I support, and I'm sincerely pulling for Lee to light it up.
I'm also pulling for the JJs as well. I don't believe in tossing someone aside like they're worthless over one stupid indiscretion.

I hope you didn't have much in your pockets, as you are dead wrong.
Actually, as horrible as JJ was the past two years, I was not one that booed him. I save the boos for bad calls by SEC officials and short opposing football coaches. So, you will lose that bet.

Being in a bar late at night as the supposed team leader is a stupid indiscretion, kicking someone that's down on the ground is criminal, so let's see where the case goes. I am a believer in our legal system, it's what separates the US from many other countries. It isn't always perfect, but it's what we signed on for.

I didn't boo him in 2008-do you think he hasn't improved since then? I just posted that I didn't boo through all those horrible performances the past two years. Looking in the mirror maybe?

Hey guys can Jefferson redshirt?

Good thing I don't keep too much in my pockets, but we both know that the ones who were booing JJ and pushing Lee will be booing Lee and pushing Mett if Lee turns in even one subpar performance.

This isn't a JJ thread, so I'll drop it at this. Drop the curfew line. It's been established time and again that it was a traditional "cut day". So quit bringing that garbage up. The whole "kicking while down" thing has been blown way out of proportion--even if he did it. And the justice system isn't going to severely punish any first offender for something like this.

I hope Lee throws 4 touchdowns and makes a believer out of everyone.

Thanks - I've been a JL fan since the Florida game. I hate to see JJ out, and I hope it works out for him (I truly hope he didn't do this crap), but part of me is happy to see JL get this chance after the BS some of our 'fans' have put him through.
That said, I also trust in Les, so I'm worried that the guy who he believed gave us the best chance to win won't be on the field.......

First, we tried to demoralize Lee for throwing too many picks... Next, we want to hang JJ for a crime that it now appears he didn't even commit.
I'm ashamed in our fanbase. And I can only hope the team can rise above it all, say 'frick you' to all of us, and play for each other.

I hear that Jefferson broke curfew, therefore he did not show signs of leadership. So, did 50+ players also show lack of leadership. Should these 50+ players also be suspended. By the way, it has been rumored that Lee and Mett were out that same night breaking curfew. Lee and Mett and many others were just lucky that they were not in the same bar with Andrew Lowery.
