Correction: Ridley was ruled ineligible for the Cotton Bowl, then reinstated prior to the game. And comparing the 2 situations is apples and oranges. Ridley was a victim of chicken little professor who thought he/she had violated some NCAA rule during final exams, notified the compliance office, yadda yadda yadda, turns out to be a non-issue. The underlying Shep situation is not so clear, then there's the violation of "protocol", so you can't gain any precedence with the Ridley case.
