Clemson brings absolutely nothing to the table.

How about FSU? Five good reasons:
1. Babes
2. Smack dab in the Heart of the Redneck Riviera
3. Babes
4. Have a coach named "Jimbo"
5. Babes
Won't happen 'cause the Gators are scared of FSU joining and will lead the veto charge under the mantle "FSU doesn't bring anything to the table".

I seem to remember FSU being scared to join the SEC when first invited in the '90s. When did FSU get a pair and ask to join the SEC?

LOL! Just a fark my friend, but since you asked...
Florida State for years aspired to become a member of the SEC. In fact, as far back as 1955 they had filed an application to formally join the SEC and actively sought inclusion during the better part of ten years. Further, Florida, and Ray Graves, originally endorsed the concept since the schools played anyway and they wanted the victories to count in the conference since UF won every year back then.
Throughout most of its independent football years, FSU wanted inclusion and the chance to associate itself with the very best. They tried annually to get into the conference and were rebuffed every year. Bowden had an interesting quote back in the 90's:
"We had tried to get in the SEC for 30 years and had been turned down all the time," Bowden said, recalling the events in the summer of '90 that ultimately led the school to forgo its independent status. "Then all of a sudden they came to us wanting to get in there."
He was totally SEC when it started. The decision to the ACC was driven mainly by President Sliger and his burning desire to improve FSU's academics. Back then, the financial benefits were obvious, but the perception were joining the ACC would enhance the academics.
The rest is history and one can argue the value of the decision back then or not.
President Barron and Fisher have both said we're not actively asking, although that could obviously change. Many fans seem to think it's a better "cultural fit" and things could change if it went to 16 teams as speculated. Others feel like why do it with an easier path through the ACC. It's all about money and FSU is doing fine right now.
Football fans want to play the best competition. Who gives a rats about Maryland or Boston College. FSU would stack up well in the SEC East and there would be some great rivalries.
Won't happen though. The SEC will not expand in any markets where there are already teams present. And FSU belongs to the ACC like it or not and would have a very difficult time extracting itself even if they wanted to petition the SEC. How soon that might change is anyone’s guess.
New coaches. New era. We're "BubbaBall" these days though.

Maryland ain't Southern! Plus, they have some of the worst acting fans in the country.

Thanks Nole...now I gotta figure a way to get the shirts together for a new sig pick.
I'm thinking team 14 is VT, if its not, Maryland will get an invite. But I drink a lot, so take it with a grain of salt.

Get the Hokies outta here. A bunch of glorified Big East bums and their semi-talented Hampton Roads thugs.

Having to come back to the SEC with a far inferior team would be a nightmare for Gary Crowton...

I'll take Bama any day. Your campus looks like an insane asylum with all those grey stone buildings.
