Well, yes...in a way. Doucet grew up a Tiger fan and I knew him a bit in Lafayette. what I mean is, unlike fans whose biggest attachment is their emotional bond with the program, a news organization has other ones...drawing and keeping an audience, at least the appearance of being impartial, etc. Put another way, they don;t have the luxury of staying completely out of it until the dust settles like a fan does, and ought to in my opinion. Not saying they should run around with rumors, but they are in a much better position to fact find and relay that news if they do their job correctly. An anonymous poster on an LSU fan message board is not really in that same position, and REALLY doesn't have any reason not to post false or potentially damning rumors because, after all...they're posting anonymously.
